Ensuring future generations can benefit requires careful management — something we need more of. No country can manage these fish stocks alone. We need regional cooperation, based on sound scientific consensus, to protect these shared stocks for future generations.
The South China Sea (SCS) Fisheries Science Working Group (FSWG) brings together government and fisheries representatives from the littoral states of China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam to jointly manage the region's scarce (and shared) stocks.
In 2022, the Philippine National Security Advisor launched our joint analysis on skipjack tuna. It was our region's first analysis on this important transboundary fish.
